    Our Vision

Playing, learning, laughing and growing together.

    Our Mission

The Kindergarten is committed to the development of a love of life-long learning within each person who enters it, through providing quality early childhood education and reflective practice in a caring, fun, safe environment.

    Our Philosophy

    As early childhood professionals:

    ·      We believe in creating a diverse approach to teaching and programming based on our C&K curriculum ‘Building Waterfalls’.

    ·      We view ourselves as guardians of childhood and all children who attend our centre. We strive to ensure our learning environment is warm, caring, respectful, nurturing and safe ensuring that each child is able to develop to their fullest potential at their own pace while building their self confidence and self esteem.

    ·      We believe in providing personalised care through an awareness of each child’s needs for attention and assistance in matters relating to their health, hygiene, belongings, meal times and their social and emotional security at all times encouraging independence.

    ·      We believe that every child is unique and special, competent and capable and that their learning should be extended through following their interests and needs and using scaffolding and intentional teaching strategies to build upon their learning through an emergent and planned curriculum.

    ·      We believe learning is collaborative and reciprocal and built upon rich and deep relationships and partnerships. We aim for children and parents to participate in and contribute to a flexible and responsive learning and living environment.

    ·      We believe in the value of mutual respect and children are encouraged to respect and be responsible with each other and their environment. This involves developing social skills pertaining to them being part of a group such as listening, turn taking, co-operating, negotiating, respecting others belongings and opinions.

    ·      We believe in providing an environment rich in experiences where nature and natural beauty are admired and respected. The natural environment around us is respected by using sustainable practices.

    ·      As educators we are committed to supporting children’s learning by being critically reflective, engaged and competent and to connecting children’s learning with prior and present experiences and to their future life and learning.

    ·      We believe that community input enables us to extend and expand the program and environment. We foster a sense of community by bringing families together at kindergarten events, inviting relatives and grandparents to special events and through interaction with our local schools and community.

    ·      As educators we will share with parents the vital role of caring for and educating their children focusing on developing a sense of trust and security. We incorporate a range of communication styles including written, verbal and technological.

    ·      We embrace diversity. All children will be treated equally irrespective of sex, culture, race, religious, socio-economic background, or physical and intellectual differences. We value the contribution the Aboriginal culture has made to our multicultural society and respectfully identify them as the first people of this land.

    ·      We believe that learning emerges from discovery, reflection, possibilities, diversity, creativity and curiosity and meaning.

    ·      All families are unique and different and we value an inclusive environment that respects the individual needs and ideas of the families, their children and the wider community they live in. We want children to feel valued, trusted and respected as competent, capable and confident human beings.
